Perhaps the main reason this blog exists was to help in getting into concert photography. This weekend, I photographed my 1st event, a Crawfish festival featuring two zydeco bands. I'm still working on processing the photos and then, if I can, I will share them here. The night started with a bit of apprehension, but once I introduced myself to the event staff and snapped a few photos, all was good.
Being able to use my professional level equipment was a dream. I'd taken photos with a point and shoot, a Canon G15, at a few gigs but they weren't quality. For example, this photo of The Joy Formidable's Matt Thomas is noisy and not particularly sharp or detailed. I converted it to black and white in an attempt to save it.
The Canon G15 allowed me to shoot in RAW format which helped in recovering lots of detail, but, still, the sensor on a point and shoot is hardly a match for even an entry level DSLR. Enough for now, off to process some photos and listen to some tunes.
