Introducing Arctic Lake

One of the most blogged about bands in the last week or so has to be Arctic Lake.  And it's been justified, How Long Can You Stare is a breathtaking song.  Sparse instrumentation opens the track with quietly impassioned vocals, and then builds to a noisy climax of soaring vocals, a ripping riff, and a drum kit begging for mercy.

The band describes their sound as a mixture of the beautiful aspects of Daughter and London Grammar with the raw sound of Arcane Roots and Explosions in the Sky.  While I agree, I was reminded a bit of The xx in the opening, and then parts remind me a bit of Wolf Alice.  Call it ambient, shoegaze, radio rock, or power pop if you want, it's just a really great song.  All this as a first offering makes me anxious to hear what's next from the London based 3-piece.  Listen and love it below.
