Today's Song of the Day is 'Crash' from the Welsh band, Heavy Petting Zoo. The video was created by Joe Lay using Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof as the backdrop, and if you didn't know it, you'd swear it was part of the movie. Joe turned me on Heavy Petting Zoo last year, as well as another Welsh band, Cut Ribbons. Both bands have had some Aimless Skylarking coverage since then, and I suppose, if they keep making music, they'll keep getting my support. Great music deserves to be heard and shared.
In addition to dabbling in videography, Joe Lay is the ringleader of a Facebook fan page for fans of the Welsh band, The Joy Formidable. We aren't talking about casual fans here, we're talking about the stalking nutter type of fans. They show up hours before a show to insure a spot on the rail, and then wait after it's all over and the lights have come on in an attempt to say hello to the band. Even travelling overseas to see the band, or following them from gig to gig while on "vacation" isn't given a second thought. That's just the start of the so called madness, every release is waited upon with bated breath, and attacked like the zombies in 28 Days Later. And if you've been reading Aimless Skylarking, you'll also know I'm a card carrying member.
Perhaps it's time for a Heavy Petting Zoo and Cut Ribbons Facebook fan page. Until that can be sorted out, enjoy Heavy Petting Zoo's 'Crash', and Joe's creation below.
