This piece should be titled 'The Secret Life of David Shayne'. Early on in this website's life, not so long ago in fact, David Shayne was a familiar face around the Aimless Skylarking headquarters. Each offering of indie rock/folk melancholy was featured here, and enjoyed immeasurably, even had a Q&A with David. His best work, an angry rocker, 'Jade', was released mid-summer and had me excited for any future releases. Then, David disappeared from Twitter and Facebook, his last request was for Netflix recommendations. We've all been there, checking out for a while, binging on Netflix, escaping the internet. And I figured that's what happened. Either that or he was diligently at work on an album. I hoped for the latter, as I binged on season 1 of The Bridge and eagerly awaited each new episode of Dr. Who.
Then, suddenly, David reappears as part of a band called Harbors, promoting an album that was released in May of 2012. I get a DM via Twitter that pretty such said, "Remember me?", which effectively let the cat out of the bag. I'm just working through the 9 track album, but have heard some great sounds, and a voice I truly enjoy and missed hearing. Are you hiding anything else, David?
While we await David's response, enjoy the incredible track, 'Ghost'. It's the Aimless Skylarking Song of the Day.
