About mid-summer, Twitter was all abuzz about the Canadian indie pop band, Alvvays. As usual, I was slow to react, a few distracted listens was all I could manage. Oh, the tough life of a new music blogger! Then in August, Amazon offered their first single, 'Archie, Marry Me', for free as part of the Artist's to Watch series, and I got my first taste of the band. I loved the retro feel about it, yet the lyrics were fresh, of today. Then, came the video for my favorite track from their debut album, the sweetly melodic 'Adult Diversion'. And it seems they're going to keep piling on! Two weeks ago, the band released the video for another catchy slice of indie pop, 'Next of Kin'.
I'll be seeing them in Birmingham at one of my favorite venues, the Bottletree Cafe, on Sunday November 16th. I can't wait to hear 'Next of Kin' at the show, it's the Aimless Skylarking Song of the Day, watch it below.
