Vancouver based Twin River started life as a folk duo performing stark melodies, but that drastically changed when the duo went into the studio to record their debut EP, Rough Gold. Founding members Courtney Ewan Bromley and Andy Bishop recruited Malcolm Jack and Rebecca Law Gray for the session and along the way discovered they preferred the energy and full bodied sound of a rock band over folky introspection. Later on they added Dustin John Bromley on drums, and set out to make a noisy pop rock album. The band did just that; their debut LP, Should The Light Go Out, shows off that newly found sound. There's elements of shoegaze, punk, pop, surf, and blues represented on the album, and it's a lovely mix.
After a brief dance with the album, I'm anxious for a longer listen. I heard lots of get excited about, but for today, enjoy this energetic blast of punky fun. Stream the first single from the album, 'Bend to Break', below, it's our Song of the Day!
