Each time I stumble across something new and really good on Soundcloud or Bandcamp, I immediately giggle when I discover Don't Need No Melody has already written about the band. It's a 99 out of 100 times kind of thing, but music bloggers aren't in this to be exclusive, we are in it to share great music. They've got a wide reach over there, and it just boggles my mind how they do it all. I'm a fan mind you, it's one of my daily reads, as it should be for you too.
A few days back, a New Zealand artist came to my attention with a brand of bedroom pop streaked with shoegaze elements that aligned perfectly with my ears. A bit of investigation later, much to nobody's surprise, I found that Don't Need No Melody had already touched upon Fazerdaze's spectacular self-titled EP. Now, a few months later, I'm writing to remind of this talented artist.
If the prospect of a bit of shoegaze doesn't get you excited, dreamy guitar melodies and even dreamier vocals should. Each of the 6 tracks on the EP are a delicious concoction aimed at mesmerizing, mission accomplished. I'm captivated, entirely. Fazerdaze is Amelia Murray, or as she describes herself, girl in bedroom on guitar. Her live act includes Gareth Thomas (bass) and Andrea Holmes (drums). Stream the fantastic 'Zero' below.
