In addition to submissions, another way I discover new music to feature here is by visiting other music websites. There are a few I visit daily and a few I visit weekly, each providing me with far too much inspiration, and oftentimes I find myself a bit lighter in the wallet after a visit. To keep Aimless Skylarking from looking like an absolute mirror of a few favorite websites, I try not to feature everything I love, and if I do, I try to give it a few days before doing so. This is not one of those times thanks to an introduction to Pretty Sad from Leigh over at Just Music That I Like. He featured the band and their new 3-track EP just yesterday, and I'm going to pile on today.
The most impressive part of Pretty Sad's self-titled EP besides the sound is that the band is spread out all over Europe -- Glasgow, London, and Copenhagen -- collaborating and compiling a stunning and assured 3-track EP with the help of Garageband and Dropbox. The band describes their sound as lo-fi pop with a mention of sadwave, but I hear a bit of shoegazy sounds and I'm a sucker for that. It's dreamy pop music that I keep replaying over and over, as should you.
The EP is out now on Shelflife Records out of Portland, Oregon. Pretty Sad are Victoria, Luke and Maxim, stream 'Never Falling' below, it's my Song of the Day!
