A few days back, I introduced New Zealand artist Fazerdaze aka Amelia Murray and her shoegazy track 'Zero'. And since then, I've been a wee bit obsessive with her debut EP, even going so far as ordering a physical copy from her Bandcamp page. I had to own it. It's a nice handmade piece too, thick paper with black stitching to hold the sleeve together.
After multiple listens, I've discovered each track is different in musical style, shoegaze, pop, and rock make appearances, all to great effect. But, the real draw, and true star is Amelia's devastatingly beautiful voice. It's dreamy and light, angelic, yet on 'Treading Lightly', it all goes out the door, we get to hear a different side of her voice, a refreshing cool confidence. Add some seriously swaggering guitar and bass tones and we have a track demanding an immediate replay. 'Treading Lightly' sounds like the coolest pair of black Wayfarers would sound if they could make a sound. Stream it below, and become a Fazerdaze fan, it's my Song of the Day!
