New Paltz, NY bedroom pop duo Diet Cig are hot right now. They're being featured on blogs all over the world, and even got a mention in Rolling Stone magazine recently because of their ridiculously infectious sing-along song 'Scene Sick'. I featured them a few weeks back, and haven't been able to quit listening to the song, instantly captivated the moment I first heard Alex Luciano's voice. Today, the band released their 2nd single, 'Harvard' from their upcoming EP, Over Easy.
After one listen to 'Harvard', it wasn't all hype. The band has managed, once again, to get stuck inside my head and render me powerless to their charms, banging out the perfect pop song in just over 2 minutes. However, instead of the sweet indifference of 'Scene Sick', Alex turns up the heat on a former love in a bout of catty defiance, shouting "Fuck Your Ivy League sweater." But it feels light, like it will all be forgotten by the weekend. And that's a good way to be. She's putting her foot down, not just to make a stand, but to start the first dance step on the way to putting it all in her rearview mirror. If you don't know Diet Cig, get with the program and stream 'Harvard' below.
