Many years ago, I read a piece on Prince and his new album. I don't recall which album, but remembered being entirely fascinated with the story because he had played every instrument on the album. He even recorded it all in his own studio. As a non-musician, I was blown away by his one man show, and elevated my love of his work. Years later, I've found that the practice is rather common. But, still, it's no less an impressive feat.
Kelan Bonislawski, aka WOOF., is one of those one man shows, but he's doing it all in his living room. That makes it all the more outstanding if you ask me. He captured my ear with last year's spectacularly astute Millenial anthem 'My Device', and continues to build on that appreciation with each new offering. Now he's back sharing his debut LP, Bad Connection, and after a few spins, I think the dreamy slow-burning 'Wake' might just be the best song he's done yet. 'Wake' lingers, and haunts, reminding us to savor each moment with the ones we love and cherish, yet we must also think of what lies ahead, because life is far too short. Live and love, people, live and love. Stream it below.
