One of my favorite discoveries of 2014 was Nashville's Adia Victoria. I happened across her as I was photographing at the Secret Stages Festival in Birmingham, Alabama last August. I was drawn to her stage presence and the stories she told, finding it difficult to imagine that she was a new artist playing her first show outside of Nashville. Then earlier this year, I drove over to see her and her band in Chattanooga at a smoke filled dive bar. She's a natural on stage, commanding attention by all in attendance. The band's 7-8 song set was full of bluesy punk rock with a born storyteller at the helm. A few days back she premiered her latest song over on Afropunk.com, and I'm happy to share it here with all you, devoted readers. This time out, Adia offers up the slow burning masterpiece "Howlin' Shame". Please join me in streaming "Howlin' Shame" below, it's my Song of the Day!
