As a child, whenever I visited my grandmother I begged her to let us watch all of her old home movies. If we were good, she'd set up the old 8mm projector and let us look back into the past. Seeing my Dad as a child and then a teenager was always thrilling, we were able to see him before adult life changed him, he was just like us. But there were other family members, aunts and uncles and great grandparents, we'd never know. Seeing them on film made them real by making all of those stories we'd heard somewhat tangible. Watching their facial expressions, how they moved, how they sat, how things were different then, simpler. They were real, they were brought to life on the wall in a dark bedroom in Pulaski, Tennessee.
Years ago, we had the movies converted to DVD format and on occasion, I'll watch a few minutes here and there when I'm hit with a bit of nostalgia, and need to remember the people in my past. Camera Shy's new video for 'Your Only One' has made me want to watch those old home movies again. The video appears to be home movies from visits to Disneyland with glimpses of family and friends enjoying a once in a lifetime experience. It's the perfect visual for the band's dreamy pop sound, and it sounds as if it could have come from that era. After last year's debut EP, Jack-O-Lantern, the band has announced their debut LP will be out July 14th on Run For Cover Records. Watch the video below.
