If I were hard pressed about a certain style of music I have a soft spot for, I'd say it would be lo-fi bedroom confessionals. There's a pure honesty in those recordings, they're not perfect, it's never easy listening in on someone's fragile moments. But they're often in the moment, and that's key because time has a way of softening things, giving way to clarity, and ultimately blunting the sharp edge. Dana of Porridge Radio calls all that "emotional vomit music" and seems happy with the description. She just recently released an album, Misery Radio, of solo bedroom songs on Eyeless Records. Also included with the album is a zine with handwritten lyrics and photos she'd taken, not a bad deal for £5. But, it can be downloaded and streamed for free if you're short on cash. Of the 13 offerings on Misery Radio, I liked 'Barks Like A Dog' best of all. Stream it below.
