Every time I turn around, it seems I hear Roxy Brennan's voice. A few weeks back I heard her voice on the King of Cats latest LP, and then earlier this week, she popped up on playlounge's excellent new track. In the middle of all of that, it was announced that she'd joined Joanna Gruesome who were also announcing a huge North American tour at the same time. Yet she wasn't finished, on Wednesday she announced a new LP, Radisson Blue, from her solo project Two White Cranes. Last year's Two White Cranes self-titled LP landed in my top 20 of favorite albums of 2014 because it was familiar, and honest, like an old friend. Even today, I find myself revisiting those quietly stunning tales every few weeks.
The first offering from Radisson Blue is 'So Much Water, So Close to Home'. A song inspired by a Raymond Carver short story of the same name, and a poem by Carver. Read here for Roxy's thoughts on the song. Having been in a book club for years, and part of many discussions concerning the power of words, I found the comparison between shorter and longer works to be a fascinating read. The song is as fascinating, stream it below.
