Monotony's side project Sauna Youth have shared the video for 'Transmitters'. I featured the song back in March as the Song of the Day and it wasn't forgotten, it's a lingering song, tugging at my arm politely demanding to be replayed over and over. The video has been no different, 10 times or more today.
The video is set in the ruins of the Crystal Palace Terraces of South London, an area of London I didn't get around to seeing, but will on my next trip to the UK. About the song, the band goes on to say "'Transmitters' is a playful and poetic ode to desire". Well, that explains everything. I was thinking something more sinister, sci-fi alien abduction or some sort of government enforced mind control device, something like that. Whatever it means, 'Transmitters' is one hell of a melodic song, and it's catchy. I want to bounce around and just have fun. Hopefully my slab of vinyl from Upset the Rhythm will be delivered soon because I'm anxious to hear the rest of the album. Join me in another viewing of the video.
'Transmitters' is taken from the forthcoming album Distractions, which will be released June 8th on Upset The Rhythm Records. Sauna Youth are Richard Phoenix (drums, vocals), Lindsay Corstorphine (guitar), Jen Calleja (vocals, sampler), and Christopher Murphy (bass).
