Everyone has had their heart broken, and if you haven't, it's only a matter of time. It's a feeling I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy. And yet, we here at Aimless Skylarking seem to gravitate toward the sounds of a breaking heart. We think it is vital to life, and to love, to peek into the pain of another. It's never pretty, tugging at old hurts, dragging us back down to the pit of despair, and often moving us to tears. But it should make us appreciate what we have now, and how we survived to breathe again.
Normally, we don't like to overload on one particular artist here, but we couldn't help it this time. Less than 2 weeks ago, we featured Julien Baker's stunning 'Sprained Ankle' as the Song of the Day, today, 'Something', one of the most beautifully painful songs we've heard in a while. We've already said enough, and not enough at the same time, and don't know that we'll ever do it justice. That said, just listen to Julien sing her tortured tale below, and try not to get swept under in the sentiment.
