I know all about unintentional periods of time off. It seems as if you're rolling right along, eyes forward, looking deeply into the future when suddenly you're blindsided. And all those hopes and dreams are suddenly dashed against the rocks, none of it making any sense. But it's all in how we pick ourselves and move on -- by creating a new future and quit looking to the past for answers. There is no future in the past. We have to pick up the pieces to survive.
One of my favorite albums of 2014 was the gorgeously crafted My Fear and Me from the Liverpudlian art-rock band, Bird. Even have the LP framed and hanging on the wall alongside The Replacements' Tim and Dott's Swoon. All seemed to be going well for the band -- they were working on new music and videos along with many live dates. And then in late 2014 the band dissolved. But I knew Adele Emmas wouldn't be out of the game for long. Even though I was dismayed, I was excited for whatever art Adele would be offering in the future, so much so I named whatever to come from Bird's former members a Top Prospect for 2015. The year came and went, and then a week or so back, a new band emerged featuring Adele and Christian, Feral Love. They've offered up their 1st bit of new music, the haunting beauty that is 'Into the Fire'. I didn't expect anything less brilliant from the pair, and hope more new music from this exciting new incarnation is on the horizon.
