Organic music discoveries are always the best. Digging around on Soundcloud and Bandcamp can be equally frustrating and rewarding, but it's worth it when you find a band such as London's Heavy Heart buried amidst all the fluff and remixes and dross. When I first heard 'This Season' I was stopped in my tracks by its heartbreaking beauty. Sincere and fragile, bordering on tears. It was as if the song had be written after a heartbreak, not during the devastating first days, or months, but once the fog had lifted. Anna of Heavy Heart said she was "trying to capture intangible things, transitional times, endings/beginnings". She did just that, and the results were spectacular.
As for 2016, the band is planning to release a track a month starting in late January and culminating in the spring with a new EP, hopefully on vinyl. The band has said tourdates in the UK and Europe are sure to follow, and hopefully some festivals. They also hope to get to the US again, hopefully down South this time if they can swing it. If not, I would love to see them when I return to London in the Spring.
