Tolman - Chaperone
Former members of Imagine Dragons, husband and wife Brittany and Andrew Tolman, have shared the first single from their new project, Tolman. The two have played in various bands around LA over the years, now taking the opportunity to focus their musical prowess on their own project. And at first blush, it's a strong first effort -- sparkling synth pop with gorgeous vocals. If I could dance, I would. More, please!
Our Girl - Being Around
Seeing longtime Aimless Skylarking favorite band Our Girl on my last vacation to the UK was a real treat. I caught the band at the end of The Great Escape at Brighton Electric in a small dark room, and was blown away by the band's live act. Subtle, yet stunning, and as I expected, Soph's lovely voice stole the show. They're back with a new track which is lifted from a new EP, Normally, out November 18th on Cannibal Hymns. Find 'Being Around' below.
Terence Jack - Errors
New to the blog, Vancouver based artist Terence Jack has blow me away with a sing-along anthemic gem. Immediately upon hearing the first few notes, I was swept away to mid-80's MTV, feeling as if it could be heard on the channel on heavy rotation during its heyday. 'Errors' details the bitter-sweetness of leaving someone, or being left, in favor of chasing dreams. Highly relatable stuff made even more compelling by Terence's soaring vocals and just a great sound. Damn I love this song.
Lance Bangs - Dig
Richmond, VA based 3-piece Lance Bangs, formerly known as Collin Thibodeauxx, is new to the blog. In early September they released their debut EP, Lance Mountain on Danger Collective Records (CA) and Citrus City Records (VA). Five tracks clocking in at around 10 minutes. Ten minutes of fuzzed up raucous fun is what it is, begging for a replay. Find it below.
Cocoa Futures - The Blue
I love it when I hear a track that induces a big plate of nostalgia. Scotland-bred and London-based, Cocoa Futures have done just that with their soaked in the 80's track, 'The Blue'. Frontman Greg (vocals/bass), Dave (drums), Zoe (keys) and Jack (guitar) have signed with Lost in the Manor Records and expect to release their debut EP, Blue, on December 2nd. Give 'The Blue' a spin or three below.
COTE - Green Light
Sometimes there just isn't much information about an artist. Scouring Brooklyn based artist Taryn Randall's social media pages revealed little about her or her project, COTE. One thing I do know, it's stunning. Taryn's dynamic voice sounds timeless, genreless. And teaming it with a spectacular kicked-back backing track makes 'Green Light' a track I never want to end.
