Sometimes it's just easier to let the artist write the blog post. Irish singer/songwriter Sorcha Richardson did just that when she said this about her latest offering, 'Lost'.
"I wrote this for my friend after he called to say his girlfriend had dumped him. He's the friend who takes care of everyone, plans the birthday surprises, invites everyone home for the holidays when they have nowhere to go. Seeing him so down felt helpless.
This is for a broken heart. An effort to cheer him up. A reminder to him that it's okay to feel sad and that everybody's feeling lost, but not to stay inside his own head forever and to come out and embrace the love that everyone has for him."
'Lost' and an earlier track, 'Walk Away' are part of a special project involving the consistent release of new music every few weeks for the next 6 months. I, for one, love when artists do that, stay current I say. Sorcha, now in Brooklyn, also went on to say these songs feel more personal than anything she's done before which has caused her to focus on offline fan engagement. On her website, she had this to say:
Anyone who has every loved and lost, cried and died on the inside, suffered through the devastation and never thought things would look up, listen. I'm excited to share 'Lost' and 'Walk Away' with you, constant reader, their message will hit close to home. I hope we'll get to see and hear more from Sorcha very soon.
