After spending the better part of two years on the road, The Joy Formidable retreated to a studio in North Wales to decompress and record their third long player. A year later, they emerged with the self recorded Hitch. Hitch is a slight departure from earlier works, all but gone are the heavy shoegaze sounds, but it follows the stylistic shift in sound found in their previous album, Wolf's Law. Not lost in the pure alt-rock sound is the band's heart, Ritzy Bryan's voice and lyrical skills leap from grave to wistful to fierce to playful with relative ease.
