One thing I always do: check out the support acts at shows I attend. Why? Because I hate missing out potentially discovering some great music I'd not heard. Pittsburgh's alt-country act The Red Western opened for Lydia Loveless last November, and I showed early to catch their set. I was in the city visiting friends in what has become my home away from home. Anyway, The Red Western's energetic performance and stunning melodies left me captivated. Earlier this year, they released two EPs, Sirens and Arrows. Sirens included the stunning track 'Junk Mail.' For anyone who has had their heart broken and you remember those numb days, weeks, and months after where nothing seemingly made sense, and still doesn't, 'Junk Mail' will hit close to home.
