BOYS - Let You Go
London quartet BOYS are back with their 1st track since their debut EP was released this past summer. Max Bloom of Yuck produced and recorded the track. And it shows off the band's sun-kissed pop music stylings. Enjoy a bit of a sunny summer day below with 'Let You Go'.
Liyv - Your Phantom
Pastel Pop princess Liyv is back with another track in her "One Song A Month" project. The 11th, if you are counting. She claims to make songs for sad people who like bright colors, and we aren't going to deny that claim. Check her out on all her socials for pictures of all sorts of plants and cats too. The latest track, 'Your Phantom', features Liyv's beautifully wistful voice, and always stunning musical composition. She's burst on the scene in a big way in 2016, and I'm curious to see what 2017 holds for her. Stream 'Your Phantom' below.
Molly Burch - Try
When I see a new album described as a debut album of ten beautiful, wistful love songs of loss, loneliness and reconnecting, I'm going to give it a long listen. That's how Austin, Texas based artist Molly Burch's record label, Captured Tracks, described her debut LP. Fellow blogger Leigh at Just Music I Like turned me on to Molly's work earlier this year, and I've not forgotten the name or the sound. Now, with new music around the corner, Please Be Mine is set for a February 2017 release. The lead track, 'Try', sounds as if it is a track of and from the 60's. That vintage quality along with art created from loss, not to mention Molly's stunning voice, has me excited to hear the rest of this album. Give 'Try' a long listen below.
Molars - Richard's Fear
Seems like every time I turn around I notice another side project Sarah Statham of Esper Scout is attached to. This time out it seems she's moonlighting as the drummer in Leeds based DIY noise-pop band Molars. The band's debut album, Hypnic Jerk, was tracked and mixed at Chunk in Leeds with Tom Goodall (Mirrorman Recordings/Cattle) and is set for release on the 16th of December on new Yorkshire-based label Grip Chimps. As I listen to the tracks on the album, I'm reminded of much of what I heard on MTV's 120 Minutes many years ago. Give 'Richards Fear' a spin below.
Savage Mansion - Bring Down the City Hall
In the past, Aberdeen, Scotland label Cool Your Jets has teamed up with a handful of bands featured on Aimless Skylarking -- Pinact, Grubs, and Min Diesel. Their latest offering, Glasgow based Savage Mansion's EP Everyone to the Savage Mansion, got buried in the inbox a while back and continued to get buried. Anyway, it's time to share it. The project is the brainchild of Poor Things' Craig Angus and is augmented by contributions from a cast of collaborators from Glasgow's thriving music scene. The EP was produced and tracked by Suse Bear of Tuff Love to boot. Once again, another offering reminding me of much of what I heard on MTV's 120 Minutes many years ago. The cassette is sold out, but stream stream stream to your heart's desire. Find 'Bring Down The City Hall' below.
Winchester - I'm Not Ready To Go Yet
Toronto indie-pop/rock duo W I N C H E S T E R have shared their second single 'I'm Not Ready to Go Yet', following up 'Last Day of the Year' from a few weeks back. The track is taken from their forthcoming debut EP, If Time is Not Linear Why Can’t I Forget the Past?. With a Philip K. Dick sounding EP title, a long listen was in the cards for me. And as with their debut track, the band has leaned on their backgrounds in architecture, classical music, coding, visual art, DJing, and design for a wholly immersive piece of sparkling art. Listen in below.
Me Not You - Bulletproof
Ahhh, who doesn't love a good mystery? New outfit, New York City based Me Not You, are definitely a mystery. By design? Or just now coming online and not gotten around to it? Hard to tell. Anyway, I've not been able to find much, if anything at all about the band, even the band's press release was terse. But if they keep making spectacular pop music like this, the cat will be out of the bag very soon. Debut tracks aren't supposed to be this confident, stream 'Bulletproof' below.
