Two things I always do: check out the support acts at shows I attend and listen to the last song on an EP/LP. Why? Because I hate missing out some great music. Discovering and sharing music that many others seem to miss out on is the main reason why I started Aimless Skylarking.
That said, last November I visited close friends in Pittsburgh, but I was also there to photograph Lydia Loveless' performance at Club Cafe. The support act that night, an alt-country band, The Red Western. I was captivated by their energetic performance and stunning melodies. And I believe I took some of the better live music photos I've taken since I started all this a little two years ago, they were great subjects, lots of hair flipping. The band just recently released two EPs, Sirens and Arrows. I've worked through the first, and cannot quit listening to the last track on the EP, 'Junk Mail'. For anyone who has had their heart broken and you remember those numb days, weeks, and months after where nothing seemingly makes sense, it'll hit close to home. Stream it below.
