Do you know an old soul? I bet you do. They're easy to find because they aren't very good at small talk, getting to the heart of the matter seems natural to them, yet off-putting to others. They're often quietly passionate, deeply understanding what moves us, what makes us human. And art doesn't come easy to an old soul, it's difficult because it seems to touch on emotions we've all forgotten about. Sometimes those emotions shake us to our core, shoving us to our knees, powerless to react, and we must let it wash over us. Old souls make us feel uncomfortable, they make us dig deeper and ponder what we've seen in life. Kiran of Seaker is an old soul who does just that. And it doesn't hurt that she has one of the most dynamic gorgeous voices I've heard.
On her new song "After I'm Gone", Kiran says: " Inspiration for the song didn't come from a particular event in time, but more a deep rooted feeling that you carry in your bones. Having to let go of something that is such a deep part of you, as ultimately it isn't right. It is about pain and longing and having to feel shit in the short term to feel better in the long. Recent world events have left me with a wave of darkness which has also leaked in to this track, as I felt totally helpless when writing it."
I'm excited with every Seaker release. Each being slightly different, yet equally beautiful. Listen in to the stunning "After I'm Gone" below.
