I was absolutely crushed when I heard that Liverpudlian art-rock band, Bird, had disbanded in late 2014. Their debut LP from earlier in the year, My Fear and Me, counts right up there with one of my favorite albums of all time. Gorgeous and melancholy, it satisfied on so many levels for me. And then, just as they were working on new music, and videos, along with many live dates, it all mysteriously ended.
Earlier this year, around the time of David Bowie's death, without warning, former members of Bird, Adele and Christian emerged with a haunting new song, 'Into the Fire'. Their new project, Feral Love, was as shrouded in mystery as was the demise of Bird. But, for fans of the band, the prospect of new music, and more to come was pure bliss. Now, they're back with a new track, and it's quite far from their darker melancholy days, 'Like the Wind' feels buoyant, hinting at optimism. And that's all we need to keep us alive every day.
