Given that the Aimless Skylarking email inbox is a horror story right now, stumbling across a succinct email brings a smile to my face. For example, I received this one:
I am with the band XXX XXX, and we are an alternative group from WWW, WWWW, and wanted to send you a hopefully-welcomed unsolicited music submission to see what you think.
Here is a link to a song off of our new album, it's called Song:
I hope this email finds you well and thank you for your time,
Honestly, you can't beat that as a music fan and part time blogger. Yet, after I listened to the submitted track, I needed to know more because the song got under my skin. That song is 'Window' by Cleveland based dream rockers Without Winter. 'Window' is a subtle slow burner with all the right dream pop flourishes to get its hooks sunk in to me. Find 'Window' below.
The band started as a solo project of Taylor James a few years back, mostly of home recordings. Ultimately releasing his self-titled debut LP this January in which Taylor recorded all of the instrumental tracks himself with Christian James-Hand lending a hand on drums. Just recently, Taylor recruited good friend and bass player known as (bisonbisonbison), drummer Brian Goebbel, and classically trained pianist Mary Defer came on board as the band's synth player. According to Taylor, they're working on their 2nd release and playing shows throughout Ohio.
