Time to close an overwhelming amount of tabs and share all of the great music that comes across the desk here at Aimless Skylarking. Hopefully these 7 cuts will give your Monday the kick in the pants it so richly deserves.
Field Mouse's new album is out this week on Topshelf Records. We've listened to a few amazing tracks from Episodic, and cannot wait to hear it in full. Check out 'The Order of Things' below.
Sometimes great music gets buried in the old inbox. Chicago based Beauty School submitted a few tracks right before a European vacation, and got buried in several weeks of email, but it wasn't forgotten. They're hard at work on their debut EP, and if it's as good as 'Pushover', we will all be in for a treat. Find it below.
22 year old college student from southern CA, Josh Hwang aka Castlebeat, has released an album full of woozy dream pop tracks. The DIY minded Josh self-released it all on his own label, Spirit Goth, and features hand-dubbed cassettes and hand-made CD sleeves. Listen in to 'Dream Gaze' below.
New wave and shoegaze? Count me in. Milwaukee's NO/NO combine the two to great success. I'm hooked, going back in for a longer listen to the EP. Check out my 1st spin favorite, 'Dark Side' below.
Royal Oakie Records presents the new release from Oakland art freaks, Everyone is Dirty. It's a manic freak out sure to wake the Monday dead.
Rebecca Whitbread aka Lovelace released her debut LP, Lands, scant few days ago. We're a bit entranced with the current single 'Moving Train' and it's accompanying video. It's quite curious.
Canadian shoegazers Slow Down Molasses are back with 'Moon Queen', the first single from the album 100% Sunshine. The LP will be released September 2 on Noyes Records. Their single 'Home' was one of our 2015 favorites, and make us take notice of each and every release.
