Amanda Merdzan - Bury the Rest
Relocating across the globe didn't appear to slow down Australian artist/producer Amanda Merdzan when she found herself in London of all places. Just last month, she released her haunting EP Commands. We're quite smitten with the dark pop treasure 'Bury the Rest' and think you will be too. Find it below.
Computer Magic - Dimensions
Computer Magic, aka Danielle “Danz” Johnson, claims to not be very good at writing biographies according to her Facebook page. However, she is very adept at making downright catchy pop music, and 'Dimensions' is a first spin favorite with us. Obscure but Visible EP is out October 7th on Channel 9 Records. More more more, please! Find 'Dimensions' below.
FRAME - Love Wasted
Brooklyn based artist/engineer Caitlin Frame knocked our socks off a few years back with the toe-tapping head-bobbing track 'Polarizer'. She's spent the past two years recording her debut album. And we're high-fiving each other with that bit of news. Now if we can just get a release date! Find the first single, 'Love Wasted' below.
A Treehouse Wait - Faith
Swedish artist Jenny Wahlström walked away from the EDM world of co-writing and performing to something new and fresh. With a heavy dose of faith in herself, she took to writing and recording. She didn't think she'd ever share her work with the world, but we're glad she did. Find A Treehouse Wait's compelling first offering 'Faith' below.
Few Bits - Sweet Warrior
In a determined effort to clean out the inbox of over 1000 unread emails, we happened across an older track we fell for after 8 seconds. Belgian act Few Bits pushed us over with the lovely indie-pop beauty 'Anyone Else'. Now they're back with another gem off their upcoming 2nd album Big Sparks, out September 30th on PIAS. Find 'Sweet Warrior' below.
Amara - Porcelain
Los Angeles artist Amara, aka Viola Ellis, just recently unveiled her debut EP, Kaolin. And after listening, we're going to say she's got the jazz nightclub singer bit down pat. Both 'Last Night' and 'True Romance' are packed full of tug at your heart emotion, gorgeous and slinky. But for our money, 'Porcelain' has won our heart. Perfection in porcelain. Join us in listening in below.
Helen of Coi - Cold Sheets
One of my live music musts is to always check out the opening act. Always. It pains me to see folks roll up 5 minutes before the headliner takes the stage and then muscle their way to the front of the crowd. You know the type don't you? Anyway, when in Birmingham, Alabama a few months back to see Mothers and Sego, I was there on time and managed to catch Helen of Coi's set. Synthy and ethereal, and I was intrigued. I missed her in Huntsville a few weeks back, but definitely want to see her perform again. She has a few tracks on Soundcloud and Bandcamp, I like 'Cold Sheets' best. So should you, check it out below.
