London indie rockers Heavy Heart are back with a new track in their Song of the Month project. For August, the band offers up the sublime smoldering 'Fever Dream', a thematic sibling to most if not all of the band's efforts so far this year. Of the track, Heavy Heart's Anna had this to say:
"There's an acute nostalgia and melancholy which late summer brings as it shades into autumn and I always find myself thinking more about people I've known, noticing we've drifted a bit further, wondering if it's my fault, seeing passion and intensity replaced by passing niceties, plans and possibility by routine and obligation. Things I always meant to say have gone unsaid for too long, or we just talk at cross purposes, like a dream where the words form but then come out all wrong. I wonder if we knew each other at all. I feel like everyone's sleepwalking, but I'm too restless, wide awake and still bleakly hopeful that something good will happen."
If you missed my long talk with Anna, check it out here. During the talk, we spoke at length about the band's Song of the Month project. Instead of holing up in the studio for months working on a collection of songs, and then releasing them all at once in album form, they're releasing one song a month. Which, I think in today's world, capitalizes on exposure. And that's something a DIY band must work hard for. To stay on the mind of music fans is no easy task, maintaining momentum never is, but Heavy Heart is doing all it can to stay in the forefront of all our minds with their taut emotionally wrought tales.
