Londoners Lazy Day have emerged with a spectacular new take on a staple from their live show. The freshened up old favorite, 'With My Mind' initially came from a collection of intimate tracks Tilly Scantlebury recorded in her bedroom a few years back. Now with a full band, Tilly and her bandmates went about giving the track the proper studio treatment, yet, without losing why it's one of Tilly's most powerful songs.
As with every Lazy Day offering, Tilly manages to stun with an economy of words. "Saying bye is always hard, I've hated it from the start" and "Making up is always hard, I never know where to start" could even stir the darkest of hearts into reflecting on past loves and losses with its clarity. And even though the band has put a new stamp on 'With My Mind', it still retains its original heart -- in the wee hours of the night, it's a bedroom confessional.
Lazy Day will play a special (now sold out) headline show at the Servant Jazz Quarters in London on Tuesday, May 9. 'With My Mind' will be released as a Lost Map Records PostMap postcard single on May 5, 2017, and comes with an acoustic version as an exclusive bonus. Find 'With My Mind' below.
