Leeds based Bruising have returned with a new single "I Don’t Mind"/"Rest In Peace Kurt Donald Cobain (1967-1994)" set for a December 2nd release on Beech Coma Records. The band has been on a hiatus of sorts while frontwoman Naomi Baguley studied in Berlin. The year away left Baguley feeling lonely, however, she and guitarist Ben Lewis weren't idle. They collaborated via email, sharing lyrics and music across the miles, ultimately forming the two tracks on the single. When it came time to record, the band enlisted MJ of the Hookworms and his newly reopened studio, Suburban Home Studios.
When in London May of 2015, I caught a performance at the Old Blue Last and left more of a fan of the band. Their live show captured their firm grasp on the soft/loud dynamic - Baguley's sugar sweet vocals contrasting Lewis' scalding guitar work captivated me. It makes for an intoxicating mix. On "I Don't Mind", the band turned to the year apart, and the loneliness for a decidedly downbeat introspective track. It's a huge step forward for the young band.
