Music in my mail

This week was a busy week with lots of deliveries being made here at Aimless Skylarking. Fortunately, the boss has turned a blind-eye to all of the expenses, but budget constraints are always a concern. I won't bore you with photos of the Led Zeppelin deluxe CD's for 'IV' and 'Houses of the Holy', or U2's latest, which I got free, and bought because I am a silly completist. Anyway, on to the good stuff.

First off is the new 7 inch from Cherry Glazerr on

Suicide Squeeze Records

. A-side is 'Had Ten Dollaz' with 'Nurse Ratched' as the B-side. Fantastic if you ask me.

The next delivery was from Amazon and contained We Were Promised Jetpacks' latest CD 'Unravelling', and Cherry Glazerr's debut LP, 'Haxel Princess'. Both were long overdue.

I'll be seeing We Were Promised Jetpacks next weekend in Birmingham at Workplay Theater. The Twilight Sad are opening, and I think it's going to be a great show.

Song of the Day - Nurse Ratched by Cherry Glazerr

A few weeks back I featured Cherry Glazerr's new song 'Had Ten Dollaz' as the Song of the Day! From the first listen, I absolutely loved its stop dead in your tracks confidence, and each time I listen, I'm still amazed at the band's age. The track was to be released October 28th in 7 inch form from Suicide Squeeze Records. Just last week, the band released the B-side, another buzzy cool track, 'Nurse Ratched'.  Give it a spin or three and then order your copy, it's my Song of the Day, stream it below.

Song of the Day - Had Ten Dollaz

Cherry Glazerr is another band I discovered from free music from Amazon's Artists to Watch series.  Earlier this year, February to be exact, the excellent track 'Haxel Princess' caught my ear with it's cool California garage rock vibe.  Being curious, I investigated the band, and discovered two band members are barely old enough to drive, and one just about the drinking age.  Not that age is a matter, at all, I just amazed that such a confident piece of work was presented by such a young band.  Mostly, I was reminded of how awful I was at everything at that age.

Now the band has announced a new 7 inch out October 28th on Suicide Squeeze Records. The A Side is 'Had Ten Dollaz' with the flipside being 'Nurse Ratched'.  'Had Ten Dollaz' is the Aimless Skylarking Song of the Day, stream it below.
